AKC Trick Dog

All levels of the AKC Trick Dog program:  Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Performer, and Elite Performer.

This is a six-week class for $165.  Class meets once a week.

Class includes the testing, signed evaluator form, and ribbons. Class size is limited.

In a six-week class, the goal is to have the dog earn their Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced level titles. It's a goal, not a guarantee. For those students wanting the higher level titles (Performer and Elite Performer), we typically do a separate class that might only go 2-4 weeks.

This class is taught occasionally and not a regularly scheduled class.

Please call for more information.

Companion Dog

Dogs are enrolled for six weeks for $165.

Classes are taught once a week on Thursday mornings at 9:30.

To enroll in this class, the puppy must have had previous training such as a puppy kindergarten or  basic obedience.  This class is not for reactive dogs.

Classes practice walking on a loose leash, greeting other dog/handler teams, stays, recalls, and more.  We learn unique leash handling skills, work around typical distractions you would encounter on a walk, and teach the dog how to respond rather than react to squirrels, bikes, and bunnies.

True fact: canine brains (e.g., limbic system and prefrontal cortex) are not fully formed until around 18 months old.  During their adolescence period, puppies struggle with impulse control.  Their biology overwhelms their ability to behave.  Training gives them the structure they need to help them through this crazy stage.

Classes are taught in a city park (not a dog park.)  We work in areas that have shade and sun.

This class contributes to teaching your dog to become an Exceptional Companion Dog.  This class may be, and probably should be, repeated to help a dog continue to learn through the challenging months of  adolescence.

Please call a couple of weeks in

advance to reserve a spot.

Puppy is enrolled for six weeks for $165.

Classes are taught 3 times a week and puppies may come to class 3 times a week!   The more training your puppy gets during their adolescence the better!

True fact: canine brains (limbic system and prefrontal cortex) are not fully formed until around 18 months old so during adolescence they struggle with impulse control.  Training gives them the structure they need to help them through this crazy stage.

Puppies in this class are typically  5 months old and older.  Puppies less than 24 months old are eligible to enroll.

Training focuses on good manners (greeting people and impulse control around other dogs) and basic obedience (sits, downs, stays, recalls) and loose-leash walking.

AKC Canine Good Citizen Program

The AKC Canine Good Citizen program has three levels:  Basic, Advanced, and Urban.  COSDTC teaches these in progression as the difficulty increases with each level.

The basic CGC class is six-weeks for $165 and meets once a week.  Most Therapy Dog programs require the CGC.

The Advanced CGC and Urban CGC classes are five weeks for $140 and meet once a week at more challenging locations.  The schedule for CGCA and CGCU rotates and varies.  There are typically more CGCA classes offered than CGCU.

All classes include the CGC/A/U test, the AKC form signed by the evaluator (me), and ribbons.  Students then submit their signed form and separate payment to AKC to record the title.

Class sizes are limited.  Enrollment is limited to dogs with previous training.

These classes contribute to teaching your dog to become an Exceptional Companion Dog.

Other classes...

Level Two

This unique class is invitation only to students who have trained with me in the past.

Dogs and handlers are taught advanced level skills that improve balance, coordination, distance, focus, and courage.

There is typically a waiting list for this class but I'm always interested in new students who really want in-depth training.

Helper Dog

I created and have taught this class since 2019

This class teaches your dog to be a helper around the house and includes tasks like retrieving items, closing

and opening doors and drawers, bracing, and an advanced level of obedience and manners.

This is not a Service Dog class but it does teach most of the skills used by a Service Dog inside the home.

This class is a "must have" for an Exceptional Companion Dog!

Freestyle & Rally-FrEe!

For competition students only.  These classes are for advanced level dogs.

Call Pamela for details 719-499-8294.

Pamela's Skills Classes

The following classes are unique and driven by student requests.

Check with Pamela to see when the next series will be offered.

Skills & Movement: pivots, backing, and laterals. These skills contribute to the dog's movement in everyday settings

as well as competition sports (obedience, agility, carting.)

Positions: platform work, finding heel, finding front, fixing lagging and

forging in heel, teaching movement on the left and right sides.
